Photostory Cover For my blog post, I decided to combine two of my photos that I used for my photostory newspaper project.  To create a cover for my magazine story, I had to use multiple layers, the quick selection tool, the smart object tool, and multiple pictures.  The goal of this magazine cover was to change the location of where my friend was studying. To do this, I had to use the quick selection tool and cut out the area of one picture I would use, and then eventually place it on top of the other picture. I thought it would be a good idea to use a picture of another area to study because the picture can blend well with the background.  Original Magazine Cover A few challenges that I faced during this process were fitting the pictures into the 8.75 x 11.5 magazine cover. After playing around with zooming in and out with the pictures I was able to find the right mix between the two while fitting the whole cover on the page. Another cha...

Swatchy Schemey When I walked around High Point University to take a picture for my color swatches, I was not sure what I was going to end up taking a picture of. After a few minutes of wandering around taking random pictures and getting weird stares, I made my way over to the long stretch of water outside of the Wanek Center. When I saw the vibrance of the mini fountains I knew I wanted to incorporate that in my blog post. Photo I feel like this picture shows some of the beauty we have here on our campus. I thought that by taking this picture it would be a good opportunity to use the pink color coming off of the fountains, the green grass under the water, and the light blue sky in the background. Here are the swatches that I used for my photo. Swatches Like I said previously, what inspired me to use these colors were green from the grass, pink from the fountain, and blue from the sky. I tried to show a very visible difference between all of the swatches...

Instagrammish Filters: For this project, I decided to use pictures on my phone that have to do with a mixture of manmade designs as well as nature. When posting pictures on social media networks like Instagram, I never put much thought into what goes into making a filter, until now. Original After Before After Before After How to make this filter: Hue saturation: Hue: -16 Saturation: +21 Lightness: -3 Levels: 24, 1.00, 200 Curves: Concluding Thoughts: I really enjoyed playing around in photoshop with these pictures because it really showed me how much different a photo can become once you start to change it around. The pictures that were originally taken look much different than the final picture. I was trying to take pictures that look dull and change them into something more vibrant and aesthetically pleasing. I found the more I changed around the pictures, sometimes they would be too ...

Patience When trying to take an interesting picture it is not going to be a "walk in the park". So one of the first things I decided to when I set out to take these pictures was to literally walk in the park we have here at High Point University. We live in a generation where we do not have to worry about not having the proper equipment to take a good picture. Finding what to take a picture of, is now the hard part.  Using angles, layering, framing, negative space, and symmetry I was able to give an alternative look to the everyday things we run into here at High Point University. Angles Most people look at this statue head on , but from this angle it gives me a different emotion on their face when comparing it to looking at it head on .  Framing In this picture, I was able to use the red flowers as a frame for the fountain. The picture is circulated a lot around a curves and the flowers aligned well with curb and street. Layering In this pictu...
